#54 - Fun was had!

What a LAN!

Gaming!
This was the first proper WoLsLAN I've seen where there were less leechers than people were playing games. The games of choice this LAN appeared to be Demigod, TF2, L4D, CoD4 and GMod. We're sorry for the lack of comps this LAN, but we did manage to fit in a CoD4 FFA comp and a Demigod comp.

Congrats go to Tal for winning the CoD4 comp (what's new?), and Leeeeeeeeeeee(eeee) for taking out MVP in the Demigod comp. They both win a $50 Steam Voucher.

Issues!
After opening the doors at 10am, the place was almost packed by 11:30 and full by lunchtime - we didn't anticipate a turnout this big! Because we had only set up for the amount of people we had calculated was likely to appear (our mathematical formula for approximating turnout is much too complicated to lay out here), we encountered a few network and power issues in the early hours of the LAN. Trust us when we say this won't happen again - the cause was found to be a lack of power supplied to the table rows.

I want to thank Devar, Coppr, Youjimbou and Tarryn for assisting with fixing these issues, and Tarryn especially for her pro crawling-under-a-geek-filled-desk-to-run-a-power-chain skillz.

THE PIZZA THIEF!
After taking two sets of pizza orders (we really need a PA system so people know we're doing orders), I went down to Dominos to pick up the 23 odd pizzas. Upon returning to the LAN, I opened my passenger-side door, grabbed half the pizzas, closed my door and started walking back into the hall - when all of a sudden, some unsavory looking fellow walked up to my car, took a wad of pizzas, thanked me and ran back to his car, speeding off with 6 of our LANners' pizzas. NOT COOL.

Needless to say I was shocked, I thought at first he was just another LANner lending me a hand with getting the pizzas inside. A dude has to be pretty hardcore to steal pizzas, so kudos to him. The guy was about 6 foot tall, wearing a black beanie, and had two lip piercings - one on either side of the bottom lip. If you know this person, or who it could be - FIND HIM AND DESTROY HIM. (for legal purposes, WoLsLAN is just kidding about this, we do not condone violence using a clothing iron heated to the maximum temperature, or violence with a nail-dotted plank of pine wood.)

WoLsLAN #54 is here!

Hey WoLsLANners!

It's that time again, and WoLsLAN #54 will be going ahead on the 20th of June - in just two weeks!
